This idea and website was created out of my frustration over what  seemed to be a doomed healthcare reform bill.  When the government indicated that the healthcare bill was now on "life support", a panic came over me.  What WILL happen when I lose my Cobra health insurance in a year?

01.  WILL I have to sell my house to pay for my healthcare and medications?

02.  WILL I end up  Bankrupt?

03.  WILL I loose everything I worked for all my life??

BOTTOM LINE:  I can't count on anyone but myself. 

My name is, Terri Carlson, a 45-year-old divorcee, that has created willmarryforhealthinsurance.com because I suffer from a rare genetic disease where insurance companies have denied me coverage. My condition, is called C4 Complement Deficiency, well its really a genetic deletion. It makes me unable to process bacteria and viruses efficiently and my body attacks itself. It's very similar to lupus.

As a mother and housewife for 24 years, I have never had to worry about health care, until now.  I am now divorced and have 1 year left under Cal-COBRA health coverage I have already exhausted federal Cobra. After it runs out on May first 2011, I will have nothing to help pay for numerous doctors appointments and dozens of medications.

 
California has a Major risk medical plan. Upon further investigation "Mrmip" has a 75k a year max benefit and a 750k lifetime max benefit. I was in the hospital last year and would of exceeded the years limit with just that 1 stay. I will also note the cost of Mrmip per month, for my age is $756.16 and thats without Dr copays or medicine copays.

I was also informed that in California you can create a small business of 2 and then apply for insurance. So if you have an illness create a fake business because insurance companies then will take you regardless of your health.   So I must create a fake business or get married to be able to get health insurance in the US?? Anyone think thats a problem? We have to lie cheat and steal to be insured in the US?

Your overwhelming responses, with more than 15,000 e-mails, and counting, from people all over the world has taken my breath away. If this is what I have to do to get the word out and put a face to pre-existing conditions and people that are caught in the middle, I'm willing to do it.

I've looked, I've searched, there is absolutely no stone that I've left unturned.The reaction to my unique online husband/health care search, has led some people to think I am part of a left-wing conspiracy......It's NOT!!! I'm just like every other middle American that's suffering with a pre-existing condition and caught in the middle. This isn't about politics its about humanity. We are the wealthiest country in the world and lend our assistance to other countries while our very own tax paying citizens suffer and die. The thought I would be forced to marry just to get health insurance makes me sick .No pun intended! What a step back to the victorian era for women.

Someone told me,I could give all my worldly belongings to my children,go commit a crime and have better healthcare then I have now working my fanny off everyday. I have never even had a speeding ticket but in jail, I could get 3 FREE meals a day,have FREE medications, FREE healthcare and workout at there Free gym. How is it right the government will give better healthcare to those that are a drain on society then hard working tax paying Americans?????
